I came across a pair in like new condition for cheap, so I bought em, not knowing them at all, other than Altecs have been famous for their duplex loudspeakers for ever...
So what do I do with them now? I have found the TS parameters for them (or I guess I could try to measure them on my own, if I don't muck it up).

Are there any here that know anything about these (I'm nanook on diyaudio.com)? No one at diyaudio could help me out except geoff.... he pointed me here, and had some specs for the "E" version.

thanks for any help or ideas

The "D" and the "E" are the same, except for the way the tweeter physically mounts to the rest of the speaker.

These work REALLY well in a 3 cubic foot box with a ducted port.

Oooh - it's been too long. Can't remember the Fs I used to use. I remember it was about a 3.25" ducted port, approximately 3-4" long.

A little math using the T/S's will get you there.

    Good luck!
